A Fresh New Beginning

For the last month or so, I have been drawn to the idea of starting a blog as a kind of memoir of my life. Now, I don\’t think my life is really particularly interesting (which is the precise fact that it has taken me about a month to actually write something), but it is my life and life is worth noting. I also thought it would be a good exercise in increasing my emotional and mental health as a way to constructively express myself and reflect on myself and the reality of my life. I believe that everything in our lives is put there for a reason and has meaning and we are responsible for discovering those meanings and applying them to better understand who we are and whose we are. I\’m anticipating that some of my entries might be deep, well-thought out remarks on the human condition, and others will be dry comments on the days events. That to me is the human condition and I believe it is worth exploring. This also serves as a reflection on who I am at this moment in time and where I\’m going. So this, starting now, is the beginning of a new chapter in my life, a new journey.

A little about me before we get started, for those of you who don\’t know. I graduated in May with a B.A. in Sociology and am starting Graduate School in 2 days for a M.Ed. in Student Affairs. That being said, I have very little idea what I want to do with my life besides getting married and having a family. I am also a practicing Catholic and though my faith is not always where it should be, I do believe in God and His love and plan for His children. My favorite image of God is Christ the Good Shepherd rescuing the lost sheep. This brings me to things that you might want to know about my personality. I am very interested in personality classification, specifically the Enneagram, which is for those of you who don\’t know, a personality typing system based on motivation. Go to http://www.enneagraminstitute.com for more details on the different types. I am a 6w7 enneagram personality which is very security-oriented and loyal with a wing of wanting to be happy and doing a ton of stuff to find what makes me happy. My Myers-Briggs type is ENFJ (Extrovert, Intuitive, Feeler, Judging) and my love language is Quality Time (more specifically Quality Conversation). I am VERY people-oriented and tend to desire constant companionship. I\’m pack oriented and feel most comfortable in groups. I also value the sense Home and believe it\’s the most wonderful place on earth. I place a high value on my relationships and will go to great lengths to preserve the ones I hold most dear to my heart. I\’m a dog person, not a cat person. I also suffer from anxiety problems, something that I\’ve dealt with for my entire life. I am passionately in love with sociology. Random Interests include, but are no limited to: Dr. Seuss, Musical Theatre, Game Shows, Crossword Puzzles, The Transcendentalist Era, Painting, Talking, Dogs, Traditions, Researching Random Things, Indian Food, The Netherlands, Wellness, Schedules, Consumer Reports, Sign Language and Elephants.
I\’m sure a lot of these things will become more and more evident as the blog progresses. So, welcome to my home online, welcome to my life\’s journey. I hope you have a good ride.
